Ben & Jerrys : Climate Change College

Ben & Jerry’s Climate Change College three year mission to spread the word on Arctic meltdown and support innovative ideas to combat climate change has ended. But our Ambassadors’ innovative campaigns to save the ice have only just begun.
Ben & Jerry’s Climate Change College was established to inspire grass-roots practical action on climate change.
From 2005-2008 one candidate per participating country earned the chance to put their own creative solution on climate change into action.
The prize consisted of a 9 month business mentoring programme (worth €21,000 per participant, including e-learning modules, a 3-day workshop in London and a 2-week Arctic trip) and a €7,000 monetary grant to launch your project!)

'Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. In fact, it’s the only thing that ever has’- Margaret Mead. Since 2005, we’ve trained 12 Ambassadors, and while they may be few in number, boy have they had an impact! From MTV to BBC, they’ve spread the word on solutions to Climate Change. Plus they’ve gone beyond words to action, making positive changes to their communities, that saves CO2 emissions and money.
The College is now active in eight countries in Europe; France, Germany, Ireland, The Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and
the UK.
Three finalists from each country attended a selection event in Rotterdam from Nov 23-25th.
To earn a place at the weekend, candidates had to send in their idea for a climate change solution project that not only reduced CO2 emissions but successfully changed behaviour. During the weekend, every candidate got a chance to convince the judges that theirs was the winning idea and that they were the candidate to make it happen.
There may only be room for 7 students on the expedition, but there’s free access 24/7 to the College Library.
